Take an early look at the 2014 Audi R5

Have you had a chance yet to lay your eyes on the beautiful 2014 Audi R5? If not then you can thank us for introducing you to this unbelievable attractive car by contributing to our PayPal account at the bottom of this page. The much rumoured baby R8 has fallen off the press junket recently with the eco friendly darling Audi e-Tron concept taking centre stage. The spotlight is shifting slightly back to the R5 as the biggest hold up in the cars production is whether or not the co-developed mid-engine platform between VW and Porsche is back on.

We have seen VW’s version of the car that is under pined with the shared platform with the BlueSport concept car. We were surprised by that car as it was being billed as having a 60 mpg fuel rating due to its 2.0-liter turbo diesel. The rendering that we came across on the Road and Track web site is Audi’s version of their mid sized two seat rear drive sports car that will be billed the R5.

The cars road map would see it coming to market in 2014 and will most likely be powered by the brands latest direct injected turbo 4-cylinder engine that will put the power to the road via a 6-speed dual clutch automatic and a 6-speed manual transmission. However with Audi’s fondness and brand association with clean burning diesel power plants we would not be surprised to see an oil burner tucked some where down behind the two seats. We could also see a diesel powering the rear wheels with an electric motor driving the front with a Quattro badge on the front grill.

Until then we have your next desktop background as the image of the 2014 Audi R5 is an ascetic gem.
