McLaren Automotive opens up a New Production Centre

For those laymen out there who are not familiar with the term “production centre” that is the new cutting edge work for car factory.  From the looks of the video that the McLaren group has posted they haven’t created a factory but a car building laboratory that would put NASA’s facilities to shame.  The state-of-the-art production facility is the first step in McLaren Automotive’s goal of producing several models of vehicles in the coming years.

On a secondary note McLaren also took the time to announce that its next project will be the MP4-27, but did not go into any details as to whether it’ll be a successor to the legendary McLaren F1 road car, or if it’ll be the company’s next race car. What they could tell the press was that they are nine months into the development program and have already sorted 18,918 individual components from more than 3,000 different work orders and signed off on more than 5,500 technical drawings.

It sounds like a promising start to what will hopefully be a modern update on the legendary McLaren F1.
